Haymarket Area Search and Rescue Squad Provides Valuable Service

What you may not realize is that the folks at American Helicopters & American Aviation in Manassas also support and sponsor this valuable search and rescue service to our community.

Virginia Airborne Search and Rescue Squad, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 all-volunteer Airborne Search and Rescue Squad which operates one hundred percent from the donations and generosity of individuals, businesses, corporations, grants and their members. VASARS serves the safety, security, and rescue needs of at-risk individuals of all income levels and background.

Virginia Airborne Search and Rescue Squad’s (VASARS) mission is to assist in the recovery of lost or distressed citizens, assist in the location and apprehension of suspected criminals/fugitives and locate lost Alzheimer patients or autistic children upon the request of any fire/rescue/law enforcement agencies requiring “eyes in the sky.” VASARS will provide trained and certified flight crews to these agencies, at no cost to the taxpayer. VASARS assists in any operation where a citizen may be in danger or law enforcement requires a helicopter for aerial support. Their highly trained and professional team of search and rescue pilots, flight officers, First Responders, EMTs, Paramedics and ground support staff volunteer their time to save lives.
