It’s hard to believe the holidays are right around the corner. It really is the most wonderful time of the year. Here is an assortment of Christmas and Holiday events 2017 around Haymarket and Northern Virginia that will surely bring the holiday spirit to your family.

Northern Virginia Artisan Christmas Market

Friday to Sunday, November 10th to 12th
Dulles Expo Center, Chantilly, VA
If you are looking for that unique, artistic gift, this is the place to find it. This annual holiday show features more than 250 fine artisans from more than 20 states. They offer a diverse selection of fine arts, pottery, jewelry, stained glass, wood, photography, fiber arts and vintage re-creations as well as thousands of one-of-kind Christmas collectibles. Taste of the Holidays specialty food vendors will also offer gift-packaged gourmet fare. A major food drive benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank is held during this event each year by offering $1 off admission to attendees donating cans of non-perishable food. Wine Tasting Classes

With so many wines out there to choose from, how do we know what to pick for a holiday meal or party? Cork & Fork, located on Atlas Walk in Gainesville, is holding wine tasting events specifically designed to recommend pairings for holiday entertaining. Whether you are an entry-level wine drinker or a well-traveled wine connoisseur, all are welcome to share wine, stories and laughter. Cork & Fork brings in guest wine speakers to present their most beloved wines. These tastings and classes allow for the most genuine insight possible into the world of wine from the perspective of highly trained wine professionals. Merrifield Holiday Events

Ladies Night Out
Thursday, November 16th from 6 to 9 p.m.
Get the ladies together and head over to the sixth-annual Ladies Night Out. On this night, Merrifield Garden Center unveils their Christmas Shop and pampers everyone with tasty appetizers, wine tasting and holiday music. This is a very popular event and it does get crowded, so plan to arrive early to see it all!

Holiday Open House
November 24th, 25th & 26th – All Day
The weekend after Thanksgiving is the time to get into the spirit of Christmas! Bring your friends and family to enjoy tasty treats and ongoing demonstrations. Explore the unique ornament collection, festive fresh-cut trees and greens, hand-crafted wreaths and arrangements, and gifts for everyone on your list. Santa also arrives this weekend. Prince William Turkey Trot

Thursday, November 23rd
Turkey Trot 5K at 8:30 a.m.
1 Mile Run/Walk at 9:30 a.m.

Be ready to enjoy your Thanksgiving turkey feast by starting the day in this family-friendly event and celebration. You don’t have to be an avid runner to participate, just come out and do your best. The one mile race is geared towards the youth but all ages and abilities are welcome and beginners are encouraged. Get creative with themed gear like turkey attire, pilgrim wear, feathers and frocks – which makes this run all the more fun. The festivities include DJ music, best costume awards, and the world famous finish line envelopes featuring the random “Golden Ticket Award”.

The Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center will graciously open its facility so participants and spectators can stay warm before and after the race. Please note that this race is not timed. All registered runners will receive a custom race bib and short-sleeved T-shirt. In addition, all youth race finishers ages 14 & under will receive a race medal. Bull Run Festival of Lights

November 22nd to January 7th

You have probably seen this in years past as you drove by on I-66. If you haven’t been through yet, give it a whirl. If you have, it’s still a family favorite and annual tradition worth repeating. Drive through 2.5 miles of enchanting holiday displays with more than 40,000 animated lights set to music. After viewing the lights, you can visit the Winter Wonderland Holiday Village that includes amusement rides, an ice skating rink, entertainment, shopping, food and more. The Nutcracker

Hylton Performing Arts Center, Manassas
Virginia National Ballet/Gainesville Ballet School presents its annual Nutcracker at Hylton. Over the past 12 years, this event has transitioned into an amazing production with stellar dancers, traditional choreography and beautiful, lush sets and costumes. The cast of award-winning, international professional dancers are joined by the Junior Company and students of Gainesville Ballet School, including many local residents. Artistic Director and choreographer, Rafik Hegab, a rising star in the dance world and a frequent guest choreographer in the Metro D.C. area, has received rave reviews for his work. Warrenton Christmas Parade

Friday, December 1st at 6 p.m.
Historic Main Street, Warrenton
The Warrenton Christmas Parade is returning after winning the “Best Annual Event” for a fifth year in a row by the Piedmont Lifestyle Magazine community of voters. The parade will travel down historic Main Street passing thousands of spectators who come out each year to celebrate. Santa Claus will glide down Main Street in his one horse open sleigh towards Gum Drop Square at the John Barton Payne Building and will be available for visits after the parade. Christmas in Middleburg

On the first Saturday in December this quaint, historic town transforms into a magical Christmas experience like no other. Haymarket Holiday Celebration

Enjoy hot cocoa and cider as well as ‘A Taste of Haymarket,’ hear carols and musical performances, and roast marshmallows over the bonfire in front of Town Hall. American Festival Pops Orchestra Holiday Pops: Sounds of the Season
