Burnside Farms

Things-to-do-haymarketThis local farm has been growing flowers, plants and vegetables in the Haymarket area for three generations – offering something fresh-picked for every season! Burnside Farms prides itself on it’s chemical-free farming practices that follow guidelines for organic, sustainable production. Located on two farms, Burnside is a great place to visit year round. Pick your own bouquets of Daffodils, Tulips and Dutch Iris during the Festival of Spring, and over 25 varieties of Sunflowers in the Summer. The Fall Market offers a huge selection of pumpkins, fall plants, apples, cider, corn stalks and the Burnside Barnyard. In the winter, head over to Burnside for your fresh-cut, Virginia-grown Christmas tree and other fresh pine greenery.

Virginia Gateway

Located in Gainesville, the new Virginia Promenade is now open adding even more shopping and dining to the upscale Atlas Walk and surrounding retail outlets. Take in a movie at the new state-of-the-art Regal Virginia Gateway Cinema, shop at a variety of upscale specialty shops like White House Black Market and LOFT or dine at one of many upscale eateries including Firebirds Wood Fire Grill, Bar Louie and BJs Restaurant and Brewhouse. This new upscale mix of shopping, dining and entertainment, along with pedestrian friendly streets and an event plaza provides something for everyone in the family. There are also events like Zumba on the Plaza, wine tastings, performances and holiday celebrations.

Haymarket IcePlex

Until just a couple of years ago, the closest ice skating rink to Haymarket was either the Ashburn Ice House or Prince William Ice in Dale City, both nearly an hour away with traffic. Haymarket is now fortunate to have Haymarket IcePlex right in the town center located off Washington Street. Local high schools are now able to field ice hockey teams—there’s even a synchronized ice skating team. Whether you’re into figure skating, ice hockey or just enjoying a public ice skating session, Haymarket IcePlex is a great local recreational spot.

Winery at La Grange

La Grange is open year round for tastings and events, and during the warmer months, you can catch live performances out on the patio. Become a “wine club” member and enjoy VIP events and discounts on wines and tastings. La Grange a great way to spend a weekend afternoon with friends and family.

@4410

@4410 is an extension of Contemporary Music Center, an independently-owned music store in downtown Haymarket. @4410 was created as a performance venue for music students. The newly renovated location behind the store is now a fantastic space with state-of-the-art sound equipment. @4410 offers workshops in song writing and visual arts, rock band sessions, summer rock camps, open mic nights and performances by some of the region’s rising stars. @4410 is oozing talent and is a favorite hub for both local teens and adults. Gainesville Haymarket Community Library

The new Haymarket Gainesville Community Library is a wonderful new addition to the community and is conveniently located on Lightner Road and Route 15 near Mountain View Elementary. It is open seven days a week. Visit the website for a Calendar of Events including Story Times, Book Club, readers clubs for teens and adults, volunteer opportunities and more.

You can smell the ‘newness’ as you enter this 20,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility characterized by contemporary design features, circular angles, soaring ceilings and huge windows that allow sunlight to spill in everywhere. It may not be the most adventurous getaway, but it’s a great place to bring the kids on a rainy day or unwind after a long day at work.

Hylton Performing Arts Center

The new Hylton Performing Arts Center is just a few miles from Haymarket in the western part of Manassas. The mission of Hylton is to to entertain, educate, and enrich the Northern Virginia community by providing diverse and accessible arts experiences in state-of-the art venues. And it does just that! Two large, elegantly styled theaters host a variety of performance genres—symphony, dance, opera, cabaret and theater – everything from bluegrass to Beethoven. As a community-centered resource, local non-profit theater groups and dance companies are able to hold their performances in this gorgeous facility.

Bull Run Mountain Hiking Trail

If you’re into the outdoors, a fantastic hiking trail for all levels is located on Bull Run Mountain. The entrance is in Broad Run which is just a few minutes west of Haymarket. The trails are open daily from dawn to dusk and guidelines are provided to encourage safety while preserving the natural features of the land. Sites include the remains of Chapman’s Mill and icehouse, old cemeteries and a spectacular view from the top at High Point.

Pev’s Paintball Park

Located just a few miles north of Haymarket on Route 15 in Aldie, Pev’s Paintball is the ultimate outdoor recreation park. The vision of Pev’s is to offer stores and parks designed for all paintball player types – kids, adults, male, female, beginners and experienced players. Paintball war games are a thrilling and exciting game of capture-the-flag where friends, family, and coworkers of all ages can play a heart pounding game of paintball. There are three public or semi-private courses and five private courses situated right within the borders of Haymarket and Gainesville.
